Student Comments
Never expected that art would help me to better understand other classes. This class helped me see things from another perspective and that allowed me to achieve higher scores in my English classes.
Mr Guy is a wonderful teacher! He makes class fun and always has a great attitude. We need more people like him to teach. He makes coming to class a great priority for me!
After returning to school 20 years later to finish my degree, I was overwhelmed, but Mr. Guy made art interesting, made me think outside the box, and learn new life lessons.
Please clone Guy and allow him to teach all of the art classes.
I love this teacher! He cares for his students and makes learning a fun challenge! He is hands down the best teacher I have had
Guy was very effective in not only teaching the technical terms, but also how to look or think differently about many different subjects.
Guy was an excellent teacher. I wish I needed another class for what I am working towards. I almost signed up for drawing just so I could learn more from him. Unfortunately it did not match with my schedule. I really appreciate him as a teacher and as a person.
I appreciate his effort on his slides. It is not just another presentation. Also, he is very open-minded, which is something I value.
I’ve learned to slow down and actually see what I am looking at.
He is really perfect teacher for this course because he made each and every student feel engaged into the course more than other teachers. I highly recommend other students to take him. He made me love art yet i never did before.
Mr Guy was an excellent instructor. He truly made the class very interesting and enjoyable. He shows a high interest in the subject, which is a plus. You can tell he puts his all into making the course full of life, I love the class and the instructor PERIOD HANDS DOWN!!
Mr. Guy is passionate about his craft . I did not expect this course to be as intriguing and hard as it was. His passion is contagious and I learned so much about art, life, relationship and the most important thing how to SEE things. I am glad I was required to take this class and had Mr. Guy as my instructor. I will continue to apply and learn with skills and knowledge I am walking away with from this class.
Passionate instructor always here on time and we never leave early.
Overall, I had no interest in art, but it was required as part of my major. I’ve learned to appreciate art more now than I would have ever imagined.
This class made my first year experience the best, my favorite class. I will truly miss this class. I love his style of teaching, I wish he could be my professor for every class.
This is the first class I truly enjoyed in a very long time. As fun as the topic itself is, ART, the real reason this class was enjoyable was due to the professor and the teaching method. I learned a lot about art but also about myself.
Professor Guy is wonderfully patient yet balances the strictness of learning with encouragement. We knew due dates for the semester at the very beginning of class. We were set up for success and I had guidelines I actually wanted to work within. He is very serious with grades but I can understand why. Ultimately, I don't care what grades I receive because I actually feel educated from his class and satisfied with my effort and overall experience. I would 100% take his class again.
What was most beneficial was Mr. Guy and his ability to blend art and life and the true essence of a person into the class. This was a true humanities art class that required us to use higher levels of thinking to relate art to other areas of life. I think his class is phenomenal at helping students to be able to see, be present, and be focused on the task at hand.
I have other courses where I have to sit and listen to a professor talk non stop for three hours which makes it boring and extremely hard to stay focused. The fact that this class was so interactive and always had class participation assignments and critical thinking questions made it very enjoyable and very easy to learn. I walked away with a new perspective on art.
This course was awesome because Guy is passionate about his craft. If there were more instructors like him, I believe more people would go further in the world. This course about art encouraged discussions about LIFE and encouraged an open mind. The class lessons were well thought out and flowed really well. This is the best class I have taken ever and Ill be looking to take another class taught by Guy.
Hey, Mr. Guy, Your class is bigger than art. Some of the life lessons and connections that we all made with each other was because of you. I can say your class genuinely changed my life for the better it made me accountable and self-reflect. It was some days where I didn't feel or didn't want to, but your class and the energy you bring let me know it's all right to mess up and just try again to do better saved me this semester. I was in a grey/dark place where I was numb but through all that you still believed in me and gave me grace. You saved me by holding me accountable to due dates by helping me self-reflect with the portrait assignment - I could go on and on but the impact you have is bigger than you ever could imagine.
Class Podcast Comments During Pandemic Lockdown
Great podcast as always. I like this way of learning, I feel much more engaged with the podcast than in any of my other classes. This is much better than going over a powerpoint before a quiz, yuck. I learned new facts about shapes and I'm glad you went through organic, psychic, and implied shapes, I got a new understanding for them.
For the first podcast, I actually found the entire thing interesting and relatable. I was expecting to just hear talking, but the special affects and guest speakers really pulled me in and made it fun to listen to! I loved listening to the guest speakers! It felt more like a class (or at least as close to a class as we can possibly get right now) because there were multiple viewpoints.
I am really missing art class. I enjoyed the vibe and energy of Mr. Guy and how he challenged us to think and see in class. I really enjoyed the podcast though and I think it's going to work out well.
I love the energy that comes from listening to these podcasts. It makes me forget about all the things that are happening around me and start thinking about things that would brighten my day, instead of just sitting home all day. Podcast three was really fun! I loved the creative challenge that was included in it. It gets more better and better each time.
