Artist Statement
My work engages with themes of value, worth, connection, and play, offering moments that invite mindful contemplation and communion. Through documentation and reference, I create moments that encourage introspection, inviting viewers to reflect on their own state of being.
Rooted in the historical contexts of the spiritual in art, as well as the Dada and Pop Art movements, my practice is also, loosely informed by the principles of Zen Buddhism. I am drawn to work that resonates with an “inner sound,” focusing on process over product and trusting the viewer to discover meaning within their experience of the work.
My research delves into emerging studies in neuroscience and evolutionary biology, particularly how creativity fosters transformative connections between humans, nature, and our collective consciousness. This exploration extends to how these interactions shape the mind, body, and spirit, reinforcing the potential of art to serve as a catalyst for personal and societal change.
